    St John’s Christmas Tree Festival

Once again, the Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church Boxmoor approaches. The theme for 2025, “The Greatest Gift ,” invites our decorators to unleash their imaginations. We are hoping to bring the gift of Christmas joy to the wider community, with plenty of sparkle, colour and festive joy.

The 30 indoor trees need sponsors and decorators (but offers are coming in fast). The outdoor trees need sponsoring – they are not decorated but will brightly light up the churchyard, to bring cheer in the winter gloom and for the wider community to enjoy! This year for the first time, all 16 outdoor trees will be installed and lit from Advent Sunday, 30 November, along with the special Advent Tree which is situated outside the West Porch.

Want to get involved? If you feel you would like to get involved and sponsor/decorate a tree or help in any other way, please contact Jean Hammond (jeanandrob@live.co.uk)!

The outdoor trees are free for viewing at any time – they are especially magical at dusk! Admission to view the decorated indoor trees is just £3 for adults with free entry for accompanied children. Bring your families and friends too – it’s a lovely way to kickstart your Christmas celebrations!

The Festival runs from Friday 12 to Tuesday 16 December. Don’t miss the popular Carols Around the Outdoor Trees, at 3.00 pm on Saturday 13th. led by the Vicar and a ccompanied on keyboard by Keith Beniston. With the lights twinkling in the early evening the atmosphere should be extra festive. In addition to the usual refreshments in the Hall, hot dogs and glühwein will be available from 2 to 4 pm.

The Carols Around the Trees has become part of the annual Boxmoor calendar, so do come along if you can and sing your hearts out – there is plenty of room for everyone – and you could pop inside to see the indoor trees before or after the carols! By the way, Santa promises to drop in at the end of the carol singing, with plenty of sweets for all the singers!

Put the Festival dates in your diaries, spread the word, come and celebrate with us. Follow us on Facebook, or on our website
