Nine talented dancers from Bovingdon Dance Academy proudly represented both their academy and Team England at the Dance World Cup Finals in Dublin, Ireland this summer, competing alongside more than 11,500 dancers from over 60 countries at the world’s largest dance competition.
After qualifying earlier in the year, the academy’s Senior Ballet Company spent months training for the prestigious international event before taking to the world stage with their original ballet piece, Noctiluca. Their outstanding performance earned them an incredible 11th place in the world.
Dance World Cup is regarded as the ‘Olympics of Dance’, with dancers only able to compete after successfully qualifying in their home country. To perform on the world stage is an achievement in itself, making BDA’s result even more remarkable.
BDA Principal Nikki said: “Watching our dancers represent both Team England and our local community on the world stage was an incredibly proud moment. Their dedication over the past year has been phenomenal, and to finish 11th in the world against the very best young dancers is something they should all be immensely proud of.”
