At Queensway House, we’ve always believed that a care home should be part of its community and the relationships we build don’t stop at our front door. They extend to our local families, neighbours and organisations, creating opportunities for people to come together, share experiences and support one another.
This summer, we’re opening our doors to our community because we believe that sharing knowledge can make a real difference, whether that’s helping someone stay safe at home or to better understand living with dementia and the support available.
On Friday 24th July at 2:15pm, we’re delighted to welcome our local Fire Station to Queensway House for a fire safety talk. The session will offer helpful guidance on staying safe at home, covering simple measures that can help prevent accidents and improve safety for older adults and their families. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet members of the fire service and ask any questions they may have.
Later in the summer, on Thursday 6th August from 10:30am – 12pm, we’ll be hosting a Dementia Friends Information Session in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society. This engaging and informative session helps people understand what it is like to live with dementia and explores the small everyday actions that can make a meaningful difference to someone affected by the condition.
Dementia awareness is particularly important to our team at Queensway House. Our Home Manager, Charlotte, recently took part in Dementia UK’s 60 Miles in June Challenge, reflecting our ongoing commitment to supporting people affected by dementia.
As the first home in the Gold Care Homes family, Queensway House has been part of the Hemel Hempstead community for more than 25 years. We are proud to provide residential, nursing, dementia and respite care in a welcoming environment where residents, families and visitors feel at home.
Whether you’re interested in learning more about fire safety, increasing your understanding of dementia, or simply getting to know us better, we’d be delighted to welcome you to one of our upcoming events.
