    Boxmoor Councillors Update

    In January we published a Community Plan for Boxmoor and sought your feedback on the priorities for action for Boxmoor and how you want ward Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) spent in Boxmoor. As shown in the graph, parking and speeding are your top concerns and your immediate priority is addressing the dangerous and anti-social parking that has become an increasing problem for many roads in the ward. A follow-up survey confirmed that:

    • 84% of respondents agree that dealing with parking issues in the ward is the top priority
    • 90% agree that c.£10k of CIL should be spent on double yellows on corners and other places where parking causes problems
    • 78% agree that c.£10k of CIL should be spent on addressing problems with the Controlled Parking Zones in Boxmoor.

    The stages of this process are (ticked ones are already complete or underway):

    ✅  Identifying where the changed or new restrictions are needed (Community Plan);

    ✅  Discussing with DBC what is achievable, enforceable and legal;

    ❓   Consulting with residents on proposals;

    ❓   Drawing up a Traffic Regulatory Order (TRO) – the process under statute law empowering Local Authorities to change parking restrictions on the public highway and

    ❓   Completing the works that have been agreed through resident consultation.

    As you can see, this is a long and complex process that could take as long as a year. What you can do while waiting for the consultation process is:
    1) Review the Community Plan:

    2) Complete our survey to support the allocation of CIL to parking issues:
