Gold Care Homes – Where it all began

There’s something quietly special about Queensway House.

For many, it’s a place of familiar faces, daily routines, and small, meaningful moments but for us, it holds something more. Queensway House was the very first home in the Gold Care Homes family, and in many ways, it’s where everything we believe about care first took shape.

Long before we became a group of homes, our approach began here. We weren’t built around processes or checklists, but around people and taking the time to truly understand each resident, their story, their preferences, and the little things that help them feel safe and comfortable.

That same approach is something we’re proud to see recognised today, with Gold Care Homes being named among the Top 20 Large Care Home Groups in the UK through independent reviews on Carehome.co.uk, reflecting the standards that first took shape here in Hemel Hempstead.

If you spend a little time at Queensway House, you’ll notice this ‘care’ in the simple moments such as a familiar laugh between a resident and a carer or someone being greeted by name.

Families often describe it best. They speak about the welcoming warmth, the reassurance of knowing their loved one is safe, and the kindness shown in everyday interactions. It is a sense that nothing feels rushed, and that care is truly personal.

For our team, that’s what matters most. We take the time to understand each resident and their family, building trust and growing relationships.

As we move into the warmer months, those moments naturally flow into the garden. At the end of May, we’ll be opening our doors to our local community for a Spring BBQ, with food, music and garden games. This is a chance for people to simply come along, spend time with us and get a feel for the home.

If you would like to learn more about Queensway House or join us for our Spring BBQ on Friday 29th May (1pm – 4pm), our team would be delighted to welcome you. Please give us a call on 01442 501 601 for more information.
