On Saturday 17th January we were delighted to welcome so many of the community to the inauguration of the new Community Bench on Blackbirds Moor. The bench facilitated by your DBC councillors using infrastructure funding commemorates ten local families and has been sponsored by Boxmoor Good Neighbours for the enjoyment of everyone who loves and has loved the moor.
We have also launched our community plan for resident consultation. This plan has been based on years of meetings, surveys and face-to-face contact and is intended to provide the evidence needed to respond to funding when it becomes available. This grassroots led approach helped enormously with developing and delivering the Fishery Road traffic calming scheme.
The priorities identified are resolving parking issues, addressing speeding problems and improving road safety near schools. The document can be reviewed at www.hhlibdems.org.uk/news/article/boxmoor-community-plan-2026-1 and any feedback or comments will be gratefully received at boxmoorcouncillors@gmail.com.
Working with local community architect Hugo Hardy, we have taken up the gauntlet left by Our Heath Barn campaign and put forward a proposal to Herts County Council to try to keep the barn elements of Heath Barn in community ownership. It is a long shot, but we are determined that every avenue is explored to keep this much-loved local landmark accessible to the community.
We look forward to hearing from you so we can then start implementing the improvements in the Community Plan.
