“In 2023, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance flew to our daughter’s side following a serious accident in Boxmoor. We organised Boxfest, a live music event, in 2024 to cover the cost of the mission. It’s snowballed from there, and now we’re organising our third Boxfest,” says Louise Major, event organiser.
Now in its third year, Boxfest has become a firm favourite in the local calendar. The 2025 event, held in February, raised an incredible £4,071 for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT), with a packed-out crowd, electric atmosphere, and a standout performance from Oasis tribute band Shoasis.
“It was an unforgettable night and the feedback was amazing,” says Louise. “So we decided to do it all again.”
Each EHAAT mission costs around £3,000, and the charity relies entirely on donations to keep flying. In June 2025 alone, they were activated 208 times, with 84 missions by helicopter and 124 by rapid response vehicle. As Louise notes, “The helicopter visits Hemel Hempstead probably more often than people realise.” These vital, often life-saving missions wouldn’t be possible without the support of communities across Hertfordshire and Essex.
Boxfest 2026 will take place on Saturday 7th February at Boxmoor Playhouse. With three fantastic live bands already confirmed, it promises to be another great night. Tickets are on sale now, and the team are also looking for local sponsors to help raise even more money for this vital cause.
“We’ve created sponsorship packages starting from just £75 to make it easy for local businesses to get involved,” says Louise. “It’s a brilliant way to support a life-saving charity and be part of something really special.”
